On May 24, 2014 accessibility to audiovisual contents, technology and inclusion will be part of the event "A Week for ICT", which takes place every year at the EPM library in Medellin. This is an initiative led by Fundacion EPM. It is part of a cycle of conferences focused specifically on information and communication technologies.

WhatsCine is the application for personal smartphones and tablets that allows people with audiovisual impairments to access audio description and sign language or subtitles in movie theatres. The app is already available for the films that are part of the project “Movies for Everyone” in Bogotá, Cali and Bucaramanga, which takes place every second and last Saturday of the month in selected Cine Colombia theaters.

For the first time, under the project “Movies for Everyone” a Colombian movie premiere was also available for deaf or hard of hearing people, as well as for blind people using audio description and subtitling services.

"Lady and the Tramp" will be the first film to be screened and will be presented on February 6th, in six cities in Colombia, starting the "Movies for Everyone" program for 2014.

With 49 shows in movie theaters in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Bucaramanga, Montería and Pereira, more than six thousand people assisted to 10 films' screenings during 2013. People with visual, hearing, cognitive or physical impairments, were able to enjoy this entertainment with family and friends.

This app will make movies accessible to the visual and the hearing impaired using tablets and smart phones.

During the last two years, with support from private and public companies, ATmedios has made short and feature films accessible for the visual and the hearing impaired through audio description, closed caption and Colombian Sign Language.
