On May 24, 2014 accessibility to audiovisual contents, technology and inclusion will be part of the event "A Week for ICT", which takes place every year at the EPM library in Medellin. This is an initiative led by Fundacion EPM. It is part of a cycle of conferences focused specifically on information and communication technologies.
"A Week for ICT" is aimed at all those people who want to learn or enhance their knowledge about the subject.
In its fourth edition, it will offer the conference "Inclusive Audiovisual Productions", presented by Luis Guillermo Torres, a systems engineer specialized in audiovisual accessibility. Participants will have the chance to learn about techniques such as audio description, subtitles and sign language, which can be used by blind and deaf people to access cinema.
The WhatsCine app will also be presented. It is an application for smart phones and tablets that is already being implemented in some movie screenings in Colombia. The app incorporates the techniques mentioned before. Attendees to this conference, which is part of "A Week for ICT", will have the chance to experience how a blind or deaf person can use this app while a Colombian movie is screened.
