On August 7, the Expo Santa Fe Convention Center in Mexico City became an accessible space thanks to the live captioning service, also known as CART (Communication Access Real-time Translation). Spanish subtitling was provided for the presentations made throughout the day in Spanish and English. In this way, deaf and hard-of-hearing people and non-English speaking attendees could fully enjoy all the talks that took place at the venue during the AWS Summit.
Our technical and stenographer team was present throughout the day, capturing in real-time every word pronounced on the different stages and projecting them on strategically placed screens. This way, attendees could follow the presentations and speeches without any language barrier.
What is the AWS Summit?
The AWS Summit is an event organized by Amazon Web Services that attracts professionals and executives from various industries, as well as Amazon customers and partners, to discuss the latest innovations in the technology sector. In 2024, the company has offered multiple venues to share insights on generative AI, data analytics, warehousing, solutions for the financial industry, and much more.

How does the live captioning system work?
- A good quality audio source is required: The event production captures the speaker's audio and shares it with our technical team. In this case, we receive the original audio of the event and sometimes the audio of the simultaneous interpretation in Spanish.
- A live captioning or transcription system is used: People with stenographers convert audio to text in the shortest possible time so that the text comes out simultaneously with the audio.
- Visualization: The generated text is displayed in real-time on a screen.
